In 1958, due to the rapidly growing population and economy of Karachi, it was decided to shift the capital of Pakistan to another city. So in 1958, the then President Ayub Khan chose this place near Rawalpindi and ordered the construction of a city here. Most of the city's architectural work was done by the Greek urban planner Constantinos A. Doxiadis. Thus, the capital of Pakistan was moved to Islamabad in 1968.
After becoming the capital, Islamabad attracted people from all over Pakistan and at the same time as the capital, the city hosted a large number of important meetings.
